The Birds’ Wedding Song
Every year the birds‘ wedding brings us joy,
the magpie with the long tail is known to all as the bride.
The bridegroom is happy: the rook in his black feathers.
To all the birds everywhere („here and there“) invitations are given.
From far and wide, today the birds fly to the wedding,
from fields, forests, villages, all hasten here to the wedding.
Lark, jackdaw, partridge assemble here from the field.
Owl, hawk, woodpecker are welcome guests from the forest.
From the village, chicken, duck, and goose also come running.
Sparrow, blackbird, and titmouse happily join in.
All the family of birds, from places familiar and foreign
gladly wish happiness to the bride and groom.
The children gladly watch the wedding banquet.
For it is better that the birds give them something good.
For the gifts they praise the birds‘ wedding and the adventure.
